IEEE Xplore maintenance, 8/04/07

Just in from IEEE

"On Saturday, August 4, IEEE will perform planned upgrades to our systems. These upgrades require that IEEE Xplore will be offline from 9AM to midnight EDT. We will post a message to the IEEE Xplore home page to alert users to the expected disruption. The system upgrades will enable us to support subscribers more effectively. Most changes will not be visible to IEEE Xplore users, but users will see updates to the display of IEEE Standards and miscellaneous maintenance fixes.

The downtime will affect all products delivered through IEEE Xplore including IEL, ASPP, POP, IEEE Enterprise, IEEE Power & Energy Library, and IEEE Standards Online. "

This just in from Proquest:

"Due to infrastructure upgrades to our primary data center, service for the following products will be temporarily interrupted, starting at 6:00PM EDT, Friday, July 20:

* Ulrichsweb.com

* CSA Illumina Administrative Module and Personal Profiles

Access to CSA Illumina, and CSA Illustrata will still be available; however, response times may be slower than normal during this upgrade. No other products or services will be affected by this upgrade. Full service should be restored by 12:00PM EST, Saturday, July 21."

We apologize for any convenience caused by this necessary maintenance.

American Chemical Society journals denying access, 7/10/07

The ACS is denying access to those Rice workstations who are on the 'old' IP ranges (128.42.*.*). The Library staff are working with ACS to try to re-establish this access, but ACS is experiencing difficulty with their systems today, Tuesday, July 10, 2007.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have access restored by the time ACS resolves their system difficulties.

Update 7/12/07: ACS has finally been able to access their own systems and confirm they have our IPs correctly registered. They have recently updated their "Erights" system, and have discovered that several customers' IP ranges are not being correctly translated by that new system - customers are reporting intermittent access. Problems here at Rice continue to be centered on our 128.42 IP range. Library staff continue to work with ACS to resolve this service deficiency.
